AKSOULMUCH Launches Pop Art & Toy Exhibition Featuring Collabs with JPK, Victor Castillo & More

Art toy creators AKSOULMUCH are hosting a 27-day Pop Art and Toy Exhibition at the Corner Art space on the 3rd floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi's A11 building in Taipei's Xinyi District.

The creative duo behind AKSOULMUCH, Alice and Kenneth, embody the spirit of Pop Art, consistently breaking boundaries to engage directly with their audience. This exhibition is their latest platform for that connection.

AK's creativity spans designer toys and 2D art, leaving easter eggs everywhere—even their chipmunk mascot has his own real social media accounts. When people share opinions, stories, or photos because of their work, those memories become part of their lives. This interaction is what truly makes their art "pop" culture.

From toy displays and fan photos to music, large-scale figures, and graphic works, the event fully immerses you in the AKSOULMUCH universe. It's clear how much passion and effort AK poured into this show.

On opening day, it was an incredible sight to see so many of AK's most devoted collectors bring their own pieces to the venue to celebrate together!

Among the dazzling array of works on display are some incredible collaboration pieces with both international and local artists that we just have to share:

UK-based Designer Toy Artist Jon-Paul Kaiser

With a solid background in design and painting, Jon-Paul Kaiser is internationally renowned for forging a unique style in the designer toy world. Any piece touched by JPK is considered a grail among collectors and is highly respected within the scene.

Pop Surrealist Artist Victor Castillo

Victor Castillo's work has been featured in galleries and museums across Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, and the United States. His darkly humorous and whimsical cartoon characters convey thought-provoking messages. His collaboration with AKSOULMUCH, the "Big Fat Wolf," is a mashup of AK's "A-Fei" character and Victor's own wolf creation. The sausage nose is a signature feature of Castillo's characters.

Taiwanese Graffiti Artist MAR2INA

MAR2INA is an emerging artist active in Taiwan's urban art scene. Her piece "STREET NUTTY" features vibrant colors set against a gritty, street-style background, creating a stark contrast reminiscent of a powerful piece of street graffiti.

Toy Designer Slugarine Studio

The "Mischievous Trio," a three-way collaboration between Slugarine Studio, Kori&Ed, and AKSOULMUCH, is back! This new colorway is dubbed "Operation: Summer Sweets" and was handled by Slugarine Studio. The soft, pastel versions of Kori, A-Fei, and the Slug look good enough to eat.

Custom Toy Painter MAO MAO TOY

Local customizer Mao Mao has successfully transformed Nutty with a stunning faux wood-carved finish. Paired with Kori&Ed's Hannya mask, the piece radiates an incredible artisan spirit.

Designer Li Ming

Li Ming infuses his characters with traditional Japanese tattoo art, presenting the Irezumi style in a more lighthearted way. His piece, "The King's Interior," was brought to life as a massive statue for this collaboration with AK, exhibited alongside the 2D artwork for a truly imposing display!

In the painting "Ronin A-Fei," the voracious character is seen fearlessly riding the waves with his blade drawn—a truly badass scene!

Beyond these artist collaborations, the exhibition also features plenty of other cool original works.

Art Print: "Favburger" (Favorite + Hamburger)

Art Print: "I’m munchin’ it"

Art Print: "Ouch"

A cat like ice cream, ice cream like a cat, melting into the corners of life, perfectly filling that little void in your heart.

NUTTY is a character based on a chipmunk. "NUT" refers to a hazelnut, while "NUTTY" is a play on the word "naughty."

AK's NUTTY is always appearing in different forms, from its original B-movie-inspired look to a Japanese shibari-bound version, a soft and innocent *shiromuku* (wedding kimono) NUTTY, and its more recent American-style cute aesthetic.

Just like our own lives, NUTTY reflects different phases—the faces we show, the ones we want to show, and the ones we have to show.

The real self, the hidden self, the constructed self, and the expected self. None of us have just one side, and neither does NUTTY.

Exhibition Dates: 2021/9/4 (Sat) - 9/30 (Thurs)

Location: Corner Art, 3F, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Place A11
