Japanese figure manufacturer MEGAHOUSE announced today that a new addition to their monster-themed figure series, "ART WORKS MONSTERS," featuring the "Dark Magician" from "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters," is slated for pre-order at select retailers starting January 14, 2022.
The "ART WORKS MONSTERS" series has previously released popular monsters from "Yu-Gi-Oh!" such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Black Luster Soldier, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon. These figures, sculpted by renowned artist Kenji Ando, have garnered significant praise for bringing a lifelike, organic texture to the flat card illustrations. Now, the series is set to re-release protagonist Yugi Muto's iconic ace monster card, the "Dark Magician"!
The "ART WORKS MONSTERS Dark Magician" figure strikes a pose reminiscent of its artwork from the "Puzzle & Dragons" collaboration, with its left hand spread and staff brandished, poised to unleash an attack. The sculpting meticulously captures the intricate layers of its armor and the ornate patterns on its fabric. Furthermore, the distinctive "Dark Magic Circle" from the Dark Magician card series is cleverly incorporated into the base design.
This latest masterpiece is expertly crafted by Japan's celebrated sculptor Kenji Ando, who reinterprets the Dark Magician with his unique artistic flair. Ando has added exquisite details to the inner armor and the back of the attire, alongside a piercing gaze that seems ready to strike down any foe. The figure's eerie and mystical aura is further enhanced by the combination of various shades of blue and a lustrous metallic paint finish.
