Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY has announced the latest addition to their lineup from the popular mobile game "Fate/Grand Order": the "Saber/Katsushika Hokusai 1/7 Scale Figure," slated for release in January 2023.
In the game's lore, even after death, Katsushika Hokusai refused to abandon his artistic pursuits, choosing to merge with an evil god and transform into a black octopus. However, his bond with his third daughter, Katsushika Oei (O-Ei), prevented him from succumbing entirely to corruption. The evil god also attempted to fuse with O-Ei, intending to make them both vessels for a deep-sea deity. Just as they were on the verge of losing control, Suzuka Gozen intervened, helping them defeat the evil god. Harnessing the evil god's power for themselves, Hokusai and O-Ei became Servants of the Foreigner class, arriving at Chaldea in search of new artistic inspiration.
This figure brings to life the swordswoman Hokusai, who debuted in the 2019 swimsuit event as a retainer to Kira Kōzuke-no-suke. Her refreshing, summer-themed bikini swimsuit, intricately combined with multiple pieces of gorgeously patterned kimono fabric, is meticulously recreated in this 1/7 scale figure. The delicate yet dynamic sculpting is layered with impressive detail, further enhanced by several Japanese swords transformed from her paintbrushes, adding significant presence to the piece.
