Following the awe-inspiring King Ghidorah and Burning Godzilla, Thai art collectibles studio SPIRAL STUDIO is set to unleash another powerful entry in their new Titans of the Monsterverse (TOTM) series: the "Mothra Larva"! Pre-orders for this highly anticipated piece opened on September 17, 2021, with an estimated release in the second quarter of 2022.
Unlike other Toho kaiju who sometimes act as humanity's saviors and other times as world destroyers, Mothra has consistently stood as a benevolent giant monster allied with humankind. In "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," Mothra was first discovered in her larval form within a cave in Yunnan, China, and observed at Monarch Outpost 61. Her appearance in the film diverged from the more rounded, "cute" designs of previous Toho iterations, instead presenting a fierce and realistic depiction.
SPIRAL STUDIO's new "Mothra Larva" statue boasts an impressive size, standing 35 cm tall, 23 cm wide, and measuring a full 42 cm in length. The design is faithfully based on Legendary Pictures' reimagining of the Toho kaiju "Mothra Larva" from the 2019 film "Godzilla: King of the Monsters." Kenichi Tanaka, director and sculptor of Tanaka Studio, handled the 3D modeling, ensuring high-precision details directly from the movie's 3D assets. Every intricate feature, from her menacing eyes and thick, leathery skin to her complex abdominal legs, is meticulously sculpted and finished with a metallic blue paint application, perfectly replicating her on-screen appearance and coloration!
