Japanese veteran toy manufacturer Kaiyodo recently announced the debut product for their new "DO-YANEN" assembly model series: the 1/35 scale "STURM KÄFER" (シュトゥルムケーファー) assembly model, based on "Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K)," the iconic sci-fi military franchise created by Japanese godfather of sci-fi, Kow Yokoyama! It was scheduled for release on October 23, 2021.
Kow Yokoyama's original sci-fi series, "Ma.K," is set in the 29th century. Following the Fourth World Nuclear War, Earth has been devastated, practically becoming a dead planet. Despite this, two factions, the "Strahl Republic" and the "Earth Independent Government Mercenary Army," vie for supremacy over the ravaged world. The diverse array of combat armor and vehicles used by both sides has spawned a rich collection of toys and models, captivating a wide audience of sci-fi military enthusiasts.
The "STURM KÄFER" was developed by the Strahl Army (シュトラール軍) to counter the Mercenary Army's four-legged weapon, the "H.A.F.S. Gladiator" (グラジエーター). This commercialized STURM KÄFER model kit is based on a prototype sculpted by the talented artist Akira Tani (谷明). It faithfully recreates the STURM KÄFER's distinctive curved surfaces and intricate mechanical details, comprising a total of 115 parts. The clear cockpit canopy is designed for easy removal, and the legs feature articulation. A pilot figure is also included!
