BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division today (17th) announced the latest entry in their high-end Gunpla line, the "Hi-Resolution Model" series: the "Gundam Astray Red Frame Powered Red" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY," slated for release in March 2022.
The Gundam Astray Red Frame Powered Red is a form repaired by Lowe Guele using reinforced armaments. Its massive arms house high-output powerful motors developed by Jean Carry, granting the mobile suit unparalleled strength for its size. Unlike its predecessors, which required high-output support equipment, the Gundam Astray Red Frame Powered Red can independently wield the colossal 150-meter long katana, "Kiku-ichimonji Vol.2." Lowe further utilized this power to develop the devastating "Red Strike" punch attack.
The "HiRM 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame Powered Red" kit is a modification of the previously released HiRM 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame. It utilizes the same pre-assembled inner frame, armor parts, and basic armaments. However, the reinforced arm units are entirely new molds, featuring the intricate details characteristic of the HiRM series. The hands are fully articulated, and the armor on the upper arms, elbows, and hands incorporates joint interlocking mechanisms, flexing like human muscles when the arms bend. The shoulders also feature an expansion gimmick for a full-power output mode.
While the kit does not include parts for the "Kiku-ichimonji Vol.2," the standard-sized Kiku-ichimonji is still included. Its blade features electroplating and sandblasting to showcase a beautiful hamon (blade pattern) and is engraved with the four Kanji characters for "Kiku-ichimonji," offering an exquisite texture.
