Japanese toy company Kenelephant (ケンエレファント) is set to release a new capsule toy series in late October 2021, in collaboration with Japan's KODAMA TOY (児玉産業TOY株式会社)! Titled "Good Friends Charmy Chan Coloring Collection: Animal Edition" (なかよしチャーミーちゃん カラーリングコレクション どうぶつ編), each capsule will retail for 400 JPY.
Founded in Showa Year 5 (1930), KODAMA TOY's creations, including the Charmy Chan figures we're featuring today and their charming five-animal series, have been beloved by a wide range of collectors. The "Charmy Chan" line, in particular, exudes a distinct Showa-era charm, boasting a rich variety of sofubi figures and smaller collectibles. With their chubby faces and big, round eyes, they are incredibly adorable! Kenelephant previously released a capsule toy series titled "Good Friends Charmy Chan and Cute Friends," which also featured Charmy Chan alongside the five-animal characters.
This new capsule toy series not only delivers a full lineup of Charmy Chan figures but also dresses them in adorable animal-themed outfits. Standing approximately 6 cm tall, these palm-sized collectibles feature meticulously sculpted details like Charmy Chan's long eyelashes and curly bangs, along with special features such as black noses and whiskers to match their animal counterparts. The collection includes six standard designs plus one rare chase figure: Mouse (ねずみ), Tiger (トラ), Koala (コアラ), Bear (くま), Frog (カエル), and Calico Cat (トビ三毛). The rare Maneki-Neko (Lucky Cat) variant stands out with its distinctive golden bangs—they'll look fantastic displayed alongside Kenelephant's previously released Maneki-Neko figures!
