BANDAI SPIRITS, under the Japanese Bandai umbrella, is set to release a new figure in their "Saint Cloth Myth EX" series. Following characters like Syd of Mizar from the "Asgard Chapter," his twin brother, Zeta Alcor Bud (ゼータ星アルコルバド), is also making his debut! Priced at 11,000 JPY, pre-orders are now open on Premium Bandai, with an estimated release in March 2022.
The "Saint Seiya: Asgard Chapter" is an original story arc from the TV anime, not directly adapted from Masami Kurumada's original "Saint Seiya" manga. However, the seven original God Warriors introduced in the story are all distinct characters with tragic backstories, which greatly enriched the Asgard Chapter's plot. Among them are the twin brothers Bud and Syd. Due to the traditional Asgardian taboo that twin births foreshadow disaster for the family, the brothers were separated at a young age. The elder brother, Bud, was abandoned and grew up in poverty in the countryside, while his younger brother, Syd, was raised with immense love and privilege. This stark contrast in their destinies filled Bud with anger and hatred, driving him to train relentlessly, hoping one day to become the strongest warrior in Asgard. However, upon reaching adulthood, he was chosen as the God Warrior of Zeta Alcor, destined to exist only as Syd's "shadow warrior," able to succeed him as a true God Warrior only if Syd were to fall in battle.
The "Saint Cloth Myth EX Zeta Alcor Bud" figure stands approximately 180 mm tall. It faithfully recreates his gleaming silver-white God Robe, capturing the fierce saber-toothed tiger motif of the Asgardian warrior. Included are parts for his tiger-head helmet and an unhelmeted head sculpt revealing his greenish-blue hair. It also comes with five interchangeable face plates: a standard expression, an evil smirk, a closed-eye smile, a battle cry, and an expression with a shadow effect. Furthermore, five interchangeable hand parts, including ones with extended claws, are included to recreate his signature "Viking Tiger Claw" attack! A dagger, the token of recognition between the twin brothers, is also included, making for a rich array of accessories.
