Following a successful line of "Pokémon" releases, Japan's Kotobukiya is expanding its "ARTFX J" series, known for its exquisite anime and game character sculpts, with the announcement of the "ARTFX J Haruka with Torchic" 1/8 scale figure. This new collectible, inspired by "Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire," is priced at 10,780 JPY and was released in April 2022.
"Haruka" (ハルカ), the default name for the female protagonist in the "Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire" games, is depicted as a vibrant, cheerful, and optimistic trainer. She gained significant popularity in the anime adaptation, "Pokémon Advanced Generation." Initially, Haruka disliked and even feared Pokémon due to a childhood incident, but after witnessing a Pokémon Contest, she resolved to become a top Pokémon Coordinator. She became well-known for participating in Contests across the Hoenn, Kanto, and Johto regions, earning her the moniker "Hoenn Dancer."
The "ARTFX J Haruka with Torchic" 1/8 scale figure is based on an illustration by Hitoshi Ariga, a renowned artist for the "Pokémon" series. The figure beautifully captures Haruka's energetic smile alongside an adorable, fiery Torchic! Haruka stands approximately 19.5 cm tall, meticulously recreating her signature look, including her red hairband, red and black collared shirt, waist pouch, and vibrant sneakers. Her dynamic running pose highlights her graceful physique, exuding a healthy charm. Beside her, a slightly miffed Torchic reliably and cutely exhales a flame effect, adding a strong presence to the scene.
