Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations collector's division today announced the latest release from the "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team" anime series: the ROBOT SPIRITS RGM-79(G) GM Ground Type ver. A.N.I.M.E. articulated figure, slated for March 2022.
The RGM-79(G) GM Ground Type was a mass-produced mobile suit developed based on data from the RX-78-2 Gundam, intended to supplement the insufficient production numbers of the Gundam Ground Type. Most of its design was carried over from the Gundam Ground Type, with approximately 80% of its parts and weaponry being interchangeable, making maintenance and resupply highly convenient. This unit utilized more expensive Luna Titanium alloy armor. Despite achieving excellent combat results due to its superior performance, it was not mass-produced to the same extent as the cheaper titanium alloy-armored "GM" units that followed.
The ROBOT SPIRITS GM Ground Type ver. A.N.I.M.E. faithfully recreates its on-screen appearance, showcasing its blocky, robust armor design. The knee joints feature an interlocking mechanism with the rear calf armor when bent, and the foot is articulated into three distinct segments, further enhancing its range of motion and natural posing capabilities.
A rich array of weapon accessories is included, featuring a Beam Rifle, Hyper Hammer, 100mm Machine Gun, a standard shield, a short shield to recreate the unit belonging to the 07th MS Team, Beam Saber blades, and Beam Rifle firing effects. All weapons can be mounted on the unit's rear using dedicated connector parts.
