Bandai Spirits' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division, known for its high-end die-cast and ABS finished product line "GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION METAL COMPOSITE" (G.F.F.M.C.), today announced the upcoming release of the "Wing Gundam (EW) Early Color ver." from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz," slated for April 2022.
The XXXG-01W Wing Gundam is a mobile suit developed by Doctor J based on data from the Wing Gundam Zero. Piloted by protagonist Heero Yuy, it was deployed in "Operation Meteor" against the Earth Sphere United Nation (OZ). This unit largely inherited the characteristics of the Wing Gundam Zero, boasting extremely high mobility and the ability to transform into a high-speed "Bird Mode." Its armaments are equally formidable; its primary weapon, the Buster Rifle, possesses battleship-class firepower and powerful penetration, capable of inflicting significant damage to enemy mobile suits in its beam path. To prevent the enemy from acquiring its confidential data, the unit was equipped with a self-destruct device.
This particular release of the Wing Gundam features a design re-envisioned by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime, based on the TV series version. It first appeared in a movie pamphlet distributed during the 1998 theatrical release of "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz - Special Edition." This "Early Color" scheme is characterized by its yellow head sensor, blue shoulder armor tops, red side skirts, and white upper front skirts. This specific initial colorway has never been commercialized in previous products until its debut in the G.F.F.M.C. series.
The "G.F.F.M.C. Wing Gundam (EW) Early Color ver." is based on the Wing Gundam Zero (EW version) released in 2018, incorporating numerous newly sculpted parts. The Buster Rifle features an expanding mechanism for loading energy cartridges, while the wing bases boast multi-axis articulation with over four axes, allowing for versatile posing in multiple directions. Key movable frames and transformation mechanisms utilize high-strength die-cast metal, finished with metallic paint and newly designed markings to enhance overall detail and texture.
