TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectibles division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, is expanding its exquisite monster-sculpting "S.H.MonsterArts" articulated figure series. Following the release of Godzilla Ultima, the line is set to introduce a new entry based on the anime "Godzilla Singular Point": the S.H.MonsterArts Jet Jaguar (2021)! Priced at 9,900 JPY, it's slated for an April 2022 release.
Directed by Atsushi Takahashi and co-produced by BONES and Orange, the entirely new anime "Godzilla Singular Point" breaks away from traditional Japanese kaiju film tropes. It features a complex world, rich scientific theories, and abundant sci-fi elements, depicting the mystery and allure of the kaiju through the gradual unraveling of secrets by human protagonists Mei Kamino, a genius science student, and Yun Arikawa, an AI researcher.
Making its appearance in the series, Jet Jaguar (2021) is a robot built by Otaki Factory. It evolves from an initial piloted festival robot to a progressively upgraded, AI-equipped autonomous machine capable of independent combat. Eventually, it even grows to gigantic proportions, able to contend with Godzilla itself—a clear homage to "Godzilla vs. Megalon"!
The "S.H.MonsterArts Jet Jaguar (2021)" figure is supervised by Eiji Yamamori, who handled the kaiju designs for the series. It faithfully recreates Jet Jaguar's on-screen appearance, including its vibrant color scheme and streamlined mechanical structure. Clear parts are used to replicate its glowing eyes, while soft materials are incorporated into the shoulders and elbows, allowing for a wider range of motion and more natural, flexible posing. Accessories include the Anguirus Lance, which significantly boosts Jet Jaguar's combat capabilities, and a flight propeller unit, enabling collectors to recreate its giant Jet Jaguar β form and intense battle scenes!
Also included is an unpainted figure of Yun Arikawa, which not only emphasizes the immense scale of Jet Jaguar's β form but also features simple articulation, allowing him to ride on the back of the flight propeller unit!
