The Taiwanese tokusatsu creative group, "Creator Union of Tokusatsu," has rallied local studios to bring the "Ancient Statue Dukui Lunzhu" from their monster series "Volcano Monster Dahei" to life as a sofubi toy! Pre-orders are now open, with an official release slated for March 2022.
The Taiwanese team "Creator Union of Tokusatsu," dedicated to promoting tokusatsu creation, partnered with renowned art designer "HAKAI (Kusagami)" to develop the original monster series "Volcano Monster Dahei," inspired by Taiwan's Beitou Datun Volcano. Their tokusatsu short film, "Dahei - The Attack of Volcanodon!," earned the Kiyotaka Taguchi Award at the 14th Japan National Independent Kaiju Film Championship in 2019, marking a new chapter for Taiwanese tokusatsu! They also released the short comic "Dahei EPISODE PILOT," delving deeper into the prehistoric ruins of Datun Mountain and the mysterious legends of Volcano Monster Dahei.

Beyond the legendary Datun Mountain volcano monster "Dahei," the "Ancient Statue Dukui Lunming" from the series is also making its three-dimensional debut! Unearthed from the Qixing Mountain ruins in Taipei, this monster statue shares a similar head shape with Dahei, yet its body features intricate carvings reminiscent of ancient clay figures and divine idols, exuding the mysterious aura of primitive beliefs.
▼ Investigations reveal that the unearthed "Ancient Statue Dukui Lunming" is an ancient artifact over ten thousand years old. Its records show a high degree of overlap with the Datun Mountain ruins, suggesting that the primitive tribes across the entire Datun volcanic group may have shared a common belief in Dukui Lunming (the God of Datun) ten millennia ago.
The "Ancient Statue Dukui Lunzhu" sofubi toy was planned by Creator Union of Tokusatsu, with HAKAI (Kusagami) handling the design, Hsun Craft Studio producing the prototype, Villain Zone Toys assisting with production, and Tujiang Model Painter collaborating on the paintwork. Crafted from soft vinyl, the figure stands 17 cm tall, meticulously recreating the ancient statue's unique form from the original work!
It will be released in three distinct versions: the cast-bronze-like Yellow Cauldron Bronze Green, the moss-covered Rock Mountain Sacred Stone, and the Neolithic-era pottery-inspired Obsidian Fired Pottery. Each features simple articulation at the neck, shoulders, and waist. The exquisite aged paintwork gives the sofubi a substantial feel and premium texture, evoking a sense of antiquity, ancient legends, and cultural heritage that has endured through time. These three distinct renditions of the God of Datun are sure to make choosing just one an impossible task!
