US toy company The Loyal Subjects, known for its stylized, Q-version takes on popular IP characters, is set to release new collectible figures in February 2022. This exciting collaboration brings together Stranger Things and Garbage Pail Kids, featuring a total of four characters! Let's take a closer look at these hilariously grotesque figures.
Garbage Pail Kids is the iconic trading card series released by the American Topps Company in the 1980s. The cards feature exaggerated and grotesque depictions of children, widely seen as a parody and satire of the then-hugely popular Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. Garbage Pail Kids has also reinterpreted many classic IPs with its distinctive art style. Characters like the head-exploding "Adam Bomb," the vampire "Evil Eddie," and the smoking, drinking "Nerdy Norm" are cherished treasures for many old-school toy collectors.
This time, The Loyal Subjects reinterprets popular characters from "Stranger Things" in the signature exaggerated style of Garbage Pail Kids. These include Eleven, Dustin, Steve, and the Demogorgon. Not only have their faces been transformed into chubby kids, but they're also depicted engaging in bizarre, over-the-top actions. Eleven, now "WaffElle," is shown dipping a waffle in her nosebleed – utterly disgusting! Steve, reimagined as "Stylin' Steve," comically combs his hair with a spiked bat. However, the most outrageous transformation has to be the terrifying Demogorgon, now "Demo Gordon," sprouting a smiling kid's head!
