Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations collectible toy division has unveiled the developing prototype for its latest release, "S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider BLACK SUN," from the upcoming "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" series. A release date is yet to be determined.
Slated for a 2022 debut, "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" is a pivotal part of the 50th-anniversary project for Japan's beloved tokusatsu franchise, "Kamen Rider." The series aims to return to its roots, reimagining the popular 1987 classic "Kamen Rider BLACK." Under the fresh direction of Kazuya Shiraishi, it will portray the tragic destinies and sorrowful tale of brothers Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki. This new generation "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" will star acclaimed actors Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura.
The designs for the Kamen Riders and monsters in the series were conceptualized through extensive discussions involving Kazuya Shiraishi, Shinji Higuchi, Kiyotaka Taguchi, and others. The final designs were then completed by PLEX designer Daisuke Kobayashi and his team. Unlike the original BLACK, which featured a functional and bio-mechanical aesthetic, the S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider BLACK SUN incorporates a more realistic, creature-like biological design, blending numerous monster-esque muscle lines, thorns, and carapaces into its fundamental prototype.
