Bandai's GASHADEPA (Gashapon Department Store) division is set to release an exclusive PVC figure set featuring Elisa Esposito & the Amphibian Man from the acclaimed American fantasy romance film, "The Shape of Water." This highly anticipated set is priced at 19,800 JPY and is scheduled to ship in March 2022.
"The Shape of Water," a multi-Academy Award-winning fantasy film, is set against the backdrop of the Cold War era. The story follows Elisa, a mute cleaner working at a top-secret government facility, who encounters a mysterious amphibious humanoid creature, referred to as "the Asset," brought into the laboratory. Driven by curiosity and loneliness, Elisa gradually falls in love with the creature, forming an extraordinary emotional connection that transcends societal barriers between two solitary souls.
The "Elisa Esposito & Amphibian Man" PVC set meticulously recreates both protagonists at heights of approximately 19-21 cm. Elisa's head sculpt faithfully captures actress Sally Hawkins' likeness, complete with her iconic red hairband and red coat from the film. The three scars on her neck are also accurately depicted. The Amphibian Man's fantastical design, including the gills on his face and the intricate fins across his body, is brought to life with a mesmerizing, shimmering paint application. The figures feature simple articulation in their arms, allowing collectors to pose them in their iconic romantic embrace.
