Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY's dedicated mecha-themed brand, "MECHA SMILE (メカスマ)", has launched a mysterious countdown website today to celebrate its first anniversary. A major announcement is scheduled for December 17, 2021, at 18:00 JST.
Since GOOD SMILE COMPANY recruited Hiroaki Tanaka (田中ヒロ) in 2018—a veteran with over 20 years at Bandai, where he spearheaded product planning for the "Soul of Chogokin" and "SUPER MINIPLA" series—the company has significantly expanded its mecha offerings. This includes the continuous release of the "MODEROID" series of plastic model kits, the official 2020 launch of the die-cast action figure series "HAGANE WORKS", and the combining toy line "THE GATTAI". In just two short years, GSC dramatically enhanced its technical prowess in the assembly model and robot categories, officially establishing the dedicated mecha brand "MECHA SMILE" in 2021.
Late last year, the "MECHA SMILE" brand hosted the "THE GATTAI Exhibition," which showcased several stunning new model kits. We can't wait to see what exciting surprises the "MECHA SMILE" brand has in store for us this year!
