"I am the immortal Cobra!" Japanese company quesQ (QUESQ Co., Ltd.), known for its wide range of anime character toys, is set to release a 1/6 scale figure of Cobra, the protagonist from the classic anime series "Cobra," with an anticipated launch in August 2022.
The series "Cobra" (Japanese: コブラ) was created by Japanese manga artist Buichi Terasawa. It first began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 1978, followed by an anime film and TV series in 1982. The work masterfully blends elements of Japanese samurai, 007 spies, and Western films. The manga has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
The story follows Cobra, a space pirate who, to evade capture, deliberately erased his memories and altered his appearance. However, a chance encounter awakens his past, leading him back to his life as a rogue, taking on various commissions (almost always from beautiful women). Tall and powerfully built, he's instantly recognizable by his red bodysuit, the cigar perpetually clenched in his mouth, and his primary weapon: the "Psycho-Gun" integrated into his left arm.
This 1/6 scale Cobra figure from quesQ stands impressively at up to 43 cm (with the tall base) and faithfully recreates Cobra's iconic look with a refined aesthetic. Beyond the sculpted, muscular physique beneath his signature red bodysuit, the figure captures his golden, slightly wavy short hair and a vivid expression with a cigar firmly in his mouth. Of course, his iconic Psycho-Gun on his left arm is meticulously detailed. The figure also includes both a tall and a short display base, allowing collectors to choose their preferred height.
