Japan's Bandai Toy Company's Gashapon division, known for its highly popular hyper-realistic "Insect Encyclopedia" shell-less eco-capsule toys, is following up the release of "Rhinoceros Beetle" with the second installment, "Rhinoceros Beetle 02"! This new wave adds five more types of beetles to the lineup. Each capsule toy will have a suggested retail price of 500 JPY and is slated for release in the fifth week of December 2021.
The "GASHAPON Insect Encyclopedia Rhinoceros Beetle 02" capsule toys measure approximately 12 cm in length. These figures meticulously recreate the biological structure and intricate details of rhinoceros beetle specimens through 3D modeling. Each figure boasts 17 points of articulation across its body, allowing collectors to pose them in various realistic stances, such as spreading their wings for flight or raising their heads in a threatening display. The second wave's lineup includes five distinct beetles: the Caucasus Beetle, Five-horned Rhinoceros Beetle, Hercules Beetle Rickeyi (Blue), Hercules Beetle Rickeyi (Black), and the Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle (Red Color ver.).
Key features include the distinctive horns on the head, intricate mouthparts, serrated legs, and realistic paint applications that mimic their hard, jet-black elytra. Coupled with an articulated head and abdomen, clear hindwing parts, and a display stand, these figures can recreate a wide array of dynamic poses!
