Bandai's GASHAPON division, known for its highly popular capsule toy series, the "Waiting Animals," is returning to cute critters after several innovative entries like "Waiting Vegetables" and "Waiting UMA." This time, they're launching the "Waiting Cat" capsule toy collection! The series features five different designs, each retailing for 300 yen, and was scheduled to launch in late December 2021.
The "Waiting Cat" series continues the anthropomorphic style of its predecessors, depicting cats in a poignant, waiting pose, with their legs tucked in and paws resting on their knees. However, this time, in addition to the cat figures themselves, each capsule comes with a specially designed miniature cardboard box, evoking the pitiful image of abandoned kittens huddled inside boxes, hoping for someone to adopt them. The lineup includes five different breeds: Scottish Fold (kitten), Persian (kitten), Calico, American Shorthair, and Maine Coon. (Purebred kittens abandoned?!) At approximately 4 cm in size, each figure captures the cats' large, teary eyes and utterly adorable, vulnerable expressions. The cardboard boxes are themed after various shipping containers, like those for delivery services, oranges, or chestnuts. It's a call to action: adopt, don't shop! These adorable felines are practically begging to be taken home!
