BENELIC Co., Ltd., the Japanese company operating the official Studio Ghibli specialty store "Donguri Republic," is celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Spirited Away." Following the release of commemorative items like the "Eat Everything No-Face Piggy Bank" and the "Candlestick Street Lamp," a brand-new item, the "No-Face Lantern Sensor Light (カオナシ提灯センサーライト)," is now set to debut! It will be priced at ¥4,290 JPY and is scheduled for release in late December 2021.
Studio Ghibli's highest-grossing film, "Spirited Away" (千と千尋の神隠し), directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, premiered in Japan in 2001 and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003. The story follows ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino as she gets lost with her parents and stumbles into the spirit world, embarking on a fantastical journey through the mysterious "Bathhouse." Beyond its stunning visuals and moving soundtrack, the film's rich character designs, including Haku, No-Face, and Yubaba, along with its underlying allegories, remain popular topics among fans.
If you ever feel a bit scared walking through dark areas like quiet hallways, entrances, or staircases at night, the "No-Face Lantern Sensor Light" will emit a soft, subtle light to guide your way! This charming No-Face figure, holding a red Bathhouse lantern, is equipped with a motion sensor inside. It lights up for 15 seconds when it detects body heat! With its design quietly standing in a corner to illuminate your path, it's incredibly cute and heartwarming. Plus, the small lantern in his hand is detachable!
