BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division has announced the third installment in their "HG (High Grade)" model kit series from "Super Robot Wars OG": the "HG Gespenst," slated for release in May 2022.
The Gespenst first appeared in the 1992 RPG "Hero Senki: Project Olympus." Its official debut in the Super Robot Wars series was in 1995's "Super Robot Wars 4," where it served as the original protagonist's unit. In "Super Robot Wars OG," it was re-envisioned as a cutting-edge Personal Trooper (PT) developed by the Earth Federation Army, featuring a miniaturized nuclear fusion engine and high versatility, leading to the development of various specialized models. This particular release is the Unit 1, piloted by Gilliam Yeager, also known as the "Type R," which comes equipped with a diverse arsenal including the Multi-Launcher Missile, Plasma Slicer, Neutron Beam, and Split Missile.
The "HG Gespenst" meticulously recreates its jet-black heavy armor and intricate mechanical details using precision-molded parts. It features sliding and swinging mechanisms in key areas like the shoulder, waist, hip joints, and front skirt armor, significantly expanding its range of motion and allowing for dynamic combat poses. The kit comes with a rich array of weapons, including the Multi-Launcher Missile, Plasma Slicer, Neutron Beam, and Split Missile. The Multi-Launcher Missile's magazine can be detached to replicate its firing state, while the Split Missile's effect parts are reproduced using PET sheets.
