Hong Kong-based soft vinyl toy brand Unbox Industries has once again teamed up with Japanese horror manga master Junji Ito and special effects sculptor Marin (">@lab_mari) to unveil a new series: "Kaikibako Aya"! Following the success of their previous "">Kaikibako" blind box figures, this new collection is set to have an initial release at select Japanese retailers on December 25, 2021 – Christmas Day – with an international release scheduled for January 8, 2022.
The "Kaikibako Aya" series features the same lineup of characters and sculpts as its predecessor, but this time they return in stunning full color. The collection includes the eerie boy Souichi, Junji Ito's most beautiful and mysterious woman Tomie, the terrifying fashion model Fuchi, Slug Girl Yuuko, the indecisive young lady Mayumi, and The Handsome Man at the Crossroads, who spreads death in the mist. The varied skin tones alone are incredibly diverse, from Yuuko's deathly pale complexion and Fuchi's ashen face to the withered wood-like coloration of Tomie's splitting face and the bluish-green pallor of The Handsome Man at the Crossroads, all perfectly capturing the chilling atmosphere of Junji Ito's works.
