Good Smile Company is finally bringing the classic anime series "Hikaru no Go" to its popular Nendoroid line, which already features over a thousand different figures! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime's broadcast, the company is releasing "Nendoroid Fujiwara no Sai" and the "Nendoroid Hikaru Shindo"! Both are slated for a July 2022 release with a suggested price of 5,800 JPY.
The protagonist of "Hikaru no Go," Hikaru Shindo, starts as an ordinary sixth-grader with little direction in life. Everything changes when he discovers an ancient Go board in his grandfather's warehouse, stained with the blood of a man named Torajiro. This act awakens the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai, a Go master from the Heian period, who possesses Hikaru. At Sai's persistent request, Hikaru begins playing Go on his behalf. Influenced by Sai's passion and the serious attitude of his rival, Akira Toya—son of the famous Go master Koyo Toya—Hikaru's casual involvement blossoms into a genuine interest, setting him on the path to becoming a professional Go player.
The "Nendoroid Hikaru Shindo" stands approximately 10cm tall, perfectly capturing his signature look in a chibi-fied style. Details include his distinct black hair with a yellow fringe, his iconic "5" hoodie, and sneakers. His characteristic thick eyebrows and large eyes perfectly convey his energetic personality! The figure comes with several face plates, including a serious standard expression for his matches, a vibrant smiling expression, and an exasperated, sweating expression for his interactions with Sai. Combined with interchangeable hand parts, you can recreate a variety of poses and scenes from the series! Of course, essential accessories like a Go board, a sitting cushion, and a lower body part for sitting in the traditional seiza style are all included to set up the perfect match.
The Go board features a special hole designed to fit a "Milight 316B" LED light (sold separately), allowing you to recreate the epic moment of "The Divine Move" with a stunning light-up effect, making the Go stone glow!
