BENELIC Co., Ltd., the Japanese company operating the Studio Ghibli specialty store "Acorn Republic," is set to release a new item: the "Scarecrow Turnip Head Planter." This follows their popular "Calcifer Flickering Candle Light" from "Howl's Moving Castle." The planter will be priced at 26,400 JPY (tax included) and will be available starting December 24, 2021, at Japan's Acorn Republic online store, Donguri-Sora.
Director Hayao Miyazaki's film "Howl's Moving Castle" is adapted from British fantasy author Diana Wynne Jones's 1986 novel "Howl's Moving Castle." Since its release on November 20, 2004, the movie has captivated audiences for over 15 years. Its widely popular characters include the colossal, four-legged Moving Castle, protagonist Howl, heroine Sophie, Howl's apprentice Markl, and the cursed neighboring prince, Turnip Head.
The "Scarecrow Turnip Head Planter" is sculpted with Turnip Head's characteristic wide smile, and his iconic top hat is ingeniously designed to open up into a functional pot. Standing approximately 30 cm tall and weighing a substantial 4.4 kg, its impressive, high-quality feel makes it perfect for planting flowers or plants, or for use as a candy dish or other decorative storage. The top of the hat can be assembled to be either partially lifted or fully open.
