BENELIC, the Japanese company operating the Studio Ghibli specialty shop "Donguri Republic," previously released commemorative items like the No-Face Lantern Sensor Light and Candle Holder Street Lamp to celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Spirited Away." Now, a brand-new item, the Sofubi Coin Bank Kashira (ソフビ貯金箱 カシラ), is set to debut! It will retail for 2,640 JPY!
Studio Ghibli's highest-grossing film, "Spirited Away" (千と千尋の神隠し), directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, premiered in Japan in 2001 and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003. The story follows ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino and her parents as they get lost and stumble into the spirit world, embarking on a fantastical journey through the mysterious bathhouse, "Aburaya." Beyond its exquisite visuals and moving soundtrack, the film's rich character designs—including Haku, No-Face, and Yubaba—and the underlying allegories are constant topics of discussion among fans.
Among these iconic elements, the three green heads—the Kashira—that bounce around Yubaba's room have now been immortalized as the "Sofubi Coin Bank Kashira." This vinyl figure faithfully recreates their distinctive look, complete with bushy beards, thick eyebrows, wide eyes, and an angry glare. Each head measures approximately 13.5 cm tall and can hold about 600 Japanese 100-yen coins or 420 500-yen coins, making it both a decorative piece and a practical item. Collecting all three allows you to recreate their memorable on-screen interactions (though they only come in one beard style)! The bottom features a curved groove, allowing the three heads to be stacked together.
