The Saotome Research Institute developed Getter Robo, a robot designed for space exploration. Simultaneously, the Dinosaur Empire, which once dominated the surface in ancient times, began its invasion to reclaim the world above ground. However, Getter Robo's power source, the mysterious cosmic Getter Rays, were precisely what drove the Dinosaur Empire from the surface to underground in the past. To halt the development of Getter Rays, Emperor Gore of the Dinosaur Empire launched an attack on the Saotome Research Institute. In the initial battle, the Saotome Research Institute lost Getter Robo's prototype and its pilots, plunging the institute into an unprecedented crisis. Fortunately, three high school students from Asama Academy—Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Musashi Tomoe—stepped in to assist. Getter Robo was hastily reconfigured into a combat robot, bravely confronting the Dinosaur Empire's menacing grasp.
Getter One

The Getter Eagle forms the head, the Getter Jaguar constitutes the chest, abdomen, and arms, and the Getter Bear forms the legs. This is Getter Robo's primary and most powerful form. Only Getter One can wield Getter Robo's most potent weapon, the "Getter Beam," in addition to close-combat armaments like the Getter Tomahawk and Getter Scythe. In the original manga and OVA versions, it also features firearms such as the Getter Machine Gun and Missile Machine Gun. Its face is hexagonal, with turtle shell-like lenses (the original manga version's face and physique differed slightly from the TV anime, being somewhat bulkier; later OVA versions adopted a design closer to the manga). The cape-shaped Getter Wing can deploy from its back; in the original manga and OVA, the Getter Wing was fabric-like. Among the three forms, only Getter One possesses flight capabilities. It stands 38.0m tall and weighs 220t.
King Arts has finally brought us Getter Robo...
There have been numerous Getter Robo products released. If a figure doesn't offer unique features or advantages, it's bound to be phased out by the market! So, how does this one stack up...? No need to overthink it, I'm getting it anyway...
The main body stands approximately 25 cm tall, and the overall paint application is decent! This time, QC issues are minimal, which is good! However, minor scratches are still present on the normal armor. The proportions are good, though personally, I prefer the classic "bucket waist" design! The figure's eyes can light up. Articulation is average. Die-cast collectors will certainly appreciate its substantial heft, though I personally don't prioritize that.
The accessories are super abundant, including full armor sets, battle-damaged armor sets, six pairs of hands, and more, making it incredibly playable. What I appreciate most is the armor-swapping design. Most parts attach magnetically, even the battery compartment cover. This makes changing armor effortless, which deserves high praise. Furthermore, its internal structure/frame is far from sloppy. That satisfying feeling becomes evident the moment you pick it up and start posing it!
Regarding the drawbacks: first, the joints. The ankle joints might not fully support the weight of the upper body plus weapons, leading to a slightly loose feeling during play. Also, if you're accustomed to Bandai products, King Arts' Getter Robo might not offer the same solid feel during handling; Bandai's dominance in engineering and mold precision is certainly no accident. Finally, the waist area is prone to scratching, so be careful when handling it.
And where's the Getter Reactor...............???
All in all, I'm satisfied with this release. While the aforementioned issues still need improvement, as a toy enthusiast, I'm more than happy with it! As for the quality of the next release, Black Getter, we'll just have to wait and see!
