January 5, 2022 ￭ Hong Kong (11 AM HKT) — Kicking off the new year, the "KAWS:HOLIDAY" exhibition series continues its global journey, delivering a festive surprise with its eighth stop returning to nature at Changbai Mountain in Baishan City, Jilin Province, China! Since its launch in 2018, the "KAWS:HOLIDAY" world tour has garnered immense acclaim at every stop, from Seoul to Taipei, Hong Kong, Mount Fuji, Space, Bristol, and Singapore. Once again, KAWS teams up with long-time partner and organizer AllRightsReserved to unveil KAWS's first-ever giant COMPANION snow sculpture at the foot of Changbai Mountain's Tianchi Lake.
After more than two years of preparation and sponsored by The North Face, the "KAWS:HOLIDAY" Changbai Mountain stop runs from January 6 to 16, 2022, with a media preview on January 6. Set against the majestic backdrop of Changbai Mountain, towering at 2,750 meters, the exhibition features a brand-new pose for KAWS's iconic COMPANION character: a pair of large and small COMPANION figures comfortably seated, taking in the stunning snowy landscape.
KAWS stated, "As people around the world face various challenges, I believe this is an important moment to present public art. Changbai Mountain offers an exceptional environment, and I am honored to have the opportunity to showcase my work here. I hope people can take some time to gather, break from their daily routines, and have a meaningful experience amidst the sculpture and beautiful scenery."
