Japanese toy company Hasegawa is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its "MechatroWeGo" plastic model kit series with a highly anticipated collaboration with the immensely popular "Neon Genesis Evangelion." Following the release of the 20 MechatroWeGo EVA series' first wave, which included "Unit-00 + Rei Ayanami," "Unit-02 + Asuka Langley Soryu," "Unit-08 + Mari Illustrious Makinami," and "Unit-06 + Kaworu Nagisa," the long-awaited final chapter of the series, the miraculous fifth installment, "Unit-01 + Shinji Ikari" 1/20 scale plastic model kit, is now set to arrive! It will be priced at 4,300 JPY and is scheduled for limited release in March 2022.
Designed by moderhythm/Kazushi Kobayashi, the "MechatroWeGo" is set in a backstory as a children's robot developed by the Japanese company Chubu Mechatronics. Beyond its adorable, rounded design crafted specifically for kids, its main body functions as a protective, retractable cockpit capable of housing a child, earning it the title of the world's smallest rideable robot. Its flexible limbs allow children to carry school bags, commute to and from school, and play games, bringing joy to their lives.
Kazushi Kobayashi, who previously contributed as a model maker to the "Rebuild of Evangelion" films, once again collaborates with "Neon Genesis Evangelion" to release the 1/20 scale "20 MechatroWeGo EVA" series. The dream fifth installment stars "Unit-01 + Shinji Ikari," blending Unit-01's classic purple and green color scheme with the MechatroWeGo's charming body design. It features newly developed head parts to accurately capture Unit-01's sharp, angular head. Additionally, an unpainted model of Shinji in his elementary school uniform is included, complete with his chibi appearance and (the infamous) seashell flute, perfect for displaying alongside previous releases in the series as it reaches its exciting final chapter!
