The incredibly popular DefoReal (デフォリアル) series of exquisite Super Deformed (SD) scale figures from Japan's X-PLUS (株式会社エクスプラス) is set to release a new item: the "DefoReal Jet Jaguar" pre-painted figure. Based on the 1973 kaiju film "Godzilla vs. Megalon," this figure will be available in both a standard edition and a "Shonen RIC" store exclusive edition, with an anticipated release in June 2022.
"Godzilla vs. Megalon" (ゴジラ対メガロ), the 13th film in the Godzilla series, tells the story of the undersea kingdom of Seatopia, disturbed by human nuclear testing, dispatching the monster Megalon to retaliate and destroy the surface world. In response, humanity activates the artificial robot Jet Jaguar to combat the threat. In the film, Jet Jaguar is a human-sized robot developed by young scientist Goro Ibuki, capable of understanding both human and monster languages. The character later made a prominent return in the anime series "Godzilla Singular Point."
The "DefoReal Jet Jaguar" pre-painted figure stands approximately 15 cm tall and is rendered in a charming 2.5-head SD proportion. It faithfully recreates Jet Jaguar's iconic appearance from the film, including his vibrant color scheme, streamlined mechanical structure, and the distinctive smile-like expression on his face. The figure also features a metallic paint application, giving it a robust and weighty texture that enhances its rich layering and depth.
