GOOD SMILE COMPANY, a leading Japanese manufacturer, recently unveiled the latest details for their 2022 "Snow Miku" release: the "Nendoroid Snow Miku Grand Voyage Ver." This adorable Q-version articulated figure will first be available for pre-sale during the Sapporo Snow Festival from February 6-7, 2022, with general pre-orders shipping in July 2022.
Snow Miku (雪ミク) serves as the official ambassador for Hokkaido's winter tourism, always accompanied by her adorable Ezo snow rabbit companion, "Rabbit Yukine." The concept originated from a Hatsune Miku snow sculpture created for the 2010 Sapporo Snow Festival. Coincidentally, Crypton Future Media, the company that planned and developed Hatsune Miku, is also based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Since then, Hokkaido has hosted the annual "SNOW MIKU" festival (held in conjunction with the Sapporo Snow Festival), where costume designs are solicited online each year based on a different theme.
For 2022, Snow Miku's theme is "The Sea" of Hokkaido winter. Designer Detsu (でつ) successfully stood out from nearly a thousand entries with a Snow Miku 2022 design that blends naval aesthetics, stormy waves, and the crabs abundant in autumn and winter. Renowned artist Wada Arco (ワダアルコ), known for character designs in the "Fate/EXTRA" series, was invited to create the main visual, while Carlos Hakamada (SaizeP) (カルロス袴田(サイゼP)) produced the exclusive theme song.
The "Nendoroid Snow Miku Grand Voyage Ver." brings Detsu's Snow Miku design to life in an adorable Q-version sculpt. The figure meticulously reproduces the naval and crab-inspired costume details, while her twin-tail hair, resembling crashing waves, is rendered with translucent materials.
The figure includes three interchangeable face plates: a "Standard Face," a "Smiling Face," and an "Excited Face." She also comes with "Rabbit Yukine," a "Telescope," cool "Sunglasses," a removable hat, and an "Alternate Upper Body" part that lets you display her with her coat off, revealing a white suit jacket. These accessories allow for a variety of poses and scene recreations!
