Kaiyodo, the renowned Japanese toy manufacturer celebrated for the exceptional articulation of its "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメイジング・ヤマグチ) action figure series, is finally releasing its latest DC Comics entry: the Amazing Yamaguchi 027 Superman! This highly anticipated figure is priced at 10,780 JPY and was originally scheduled for release in May 2022.
The Kaiyodo "Amazing Yamaguchi" action figure line is renowned for its exceptional articulation, masterfully sculpted by the popular prototype artist Katsuhisa Yamaguchi. This series takes the highly acclaimed "Yamaguchi-style articulation" to the next level, faithfully capturing the essence of each character through its incredible poseability.
The new Amazing Yamaguchi 027 Superman is based on his appearance from DC Comics' "NEW 52" relaunch, which began in 2011. Standing approximately 17.5 cm tall, the figure boasts 38 points of articulation across its body. While faithfully recreating classic elements like the sculpted "S" emblem on his chest and his iconic red cape, it also features a metallic blue bodysuit that stylishly conveys advanced Kryptonian technology (and yes, the classic red trunks are gone!). The figure's tightly sculpted, incredibly muscular physique powerfully conveys the Man of Steel's immense strength.
Katsuhisa Yamaguchi's unique articulation design is evident throughout, with split joint mechanisms on both sides of the torso allowing the broad shoulders to swing forward and backward. The hip joint design enables the powerful thighs to bend deeply and spread wide, achieving an extensive range of motion. This allows for dynamic posing while maintaining natural body lines.
In addition to a standard expression with tightly pressed lips that conveys his sense of justice, the figure includes four interchangeable face plates: a forward-gazing expression, left-gazing, right-gazing, and an enraged expression with glowing red eyes for his Heat Vision. Coupled with a wide array of interchangeable hand parts and a split-piece cape that can spread left and right, collectors can recreate various dynamic poses, from soaring flight to intense combat.
