TARLIN International, the company that took over the capsule toy division of Japanese toy brand EPOCH, is set to continue EPOCH's popular "Paint Charm" series. They are re-releasing the long-awaited new color lineup: "Wagai Paint Charm" capsule toys, featuring a total of nine distinct colors. Each turn will retail for 200 JPY, with an estimated release in January 2022.
A unique aesthetic of Japanese culture, "Wairo" (traditional Japanese colors) encapsulates the vibrant hues found in Japan's changing seasons, festive landscapes, and historical eras. These colors are given elegant, profound names that not only evoke the vitality of nature but also embody the delicate sensibility of Japanese culture towards color. Frequently used in painting, poetry, ceramics, textiles, and even ceremonial rituals, these colors have evolved over history to acquire their own meanings, showcasing the unique customs and cultural depth behind each shade.
The "Wagai Paint Charm" series meticulously recreates the look of paint squeezed from a tube, transforming it into a charming accessory. Beyond realistically capturing the squeezed wrinkles, intricate details like the folded bottom of the tube are cleverly reproduced, resulting in various lengths and paint shapes. This latest release features nine colors: Byakugun-iro, Dandelion Yellow, Peach Pink, Wisteria Purple, Sora-iro (Sky Blue), Ougon-iro (Golden Yellow), Sumire-iro (Violet), Pure White, and Jet Black. Each charm's label is printed with the color's Kanji name and Hiragana reading, accompanied by an elegant graphic representing the shade.
