METAL ROBOT SPIRITS GUNDAM BAEL: The Iron-Blooded Devil — Hands-On Review

The mobile suit that debuted in the second season of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" had its appearance heavily built up. Ultimately, it just flies and has two swords, which was admittedly a bit disappointing.

However, the mobile suit's design is still solid. If you're collecting the "Iron-Blooded Orphans" Mobile Suits in the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS line, this Gundam Bael is definitely worth picking up.

The inner frame is largely similar to previous Gundam Barbatos releases, so there's not much new to discuss there.

In terms of playability, it only comes with two swords (or four, if you count the two large and two small blades), offering limited variation.

It also features a "sword gleam" effect. While I initially didn't expect much from it, it turned out to be decent after handling. However, this effect is mostly limited to specific sword-raising poses.

The sword scabbards on the rear skirt armor can easily interfere with posing. Be careful when handling, as they are prone to scratching.

Overall, the toy's quality is good, and the QC (Quality Control) is acceptable. The backpack looks quite stylish when deployed, which is a nice touch.

Like other "Iron-Blooded Orphans" mobile suits, it features light-up eyes. However, compared to the more dynamic eye gimmicks of units like Gundam Barbatos, it feels a bit less impactful.

If it had included an electromagnetic cannon and some effect parts, this Gundam Bael would have been even more appealing.

On a side note regarding the anime, if Gundam Bael had been the antagonist and the final battle was Gundam Bael vs. Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, wouldn't that have been a more fitting conclusion?

The current ending, with the Dainsleif's overwhelming victory, feels quite regrettable.
