Here's our belated review of the IMAGINATION WORKS Vegeta figure! As the second release in the line, following Goku, it was only natural to pick up the Prince of Saiyans. So, what kind of play experience does this latest figure offer?
Unlike Goku, Vegeta doesn't feature soft goods on his arms. Instead, he sports a full fabric bodysuit covering both his arms and legs. The material feels great, and the stitching is impeccable, with no issues whatsoever. We didn't experience any snagging or pulling during posing. The outfit is quite elastic and fits snugly, perfectly accentuating Vegeta's impressive musculature.
Just like the previous release, both his normal and Super Saiyan forms come with two distinct face plates, allowing for various expressions by adjusting the movable eyeballs.
Presumably due to the fabric material, the joint design couldn't be overly tight. As a result, some joints feel a bit loose, but it's still within an acceptable range and not overly problematic.
The articulation is quite extensive, allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses.
Thankfully, there's a good selection of interchangeable hand parts, and swapping them out is relatively easy!
However, the biggest issue lies with the display stand. To achieve airborne poses, you have to rely on the stand's claw attachment to hold the body. The stand's grip isn't particularly secure, and it's quite an eyesore, which makes me reluctant to use it. That said, if they didn't use a clamp, they'd have to put a hole in the figure's back, which would definitely impact its overall aesthetic.
Because the display stand isn't very user-friendly, setting up dynamic combat scenes with Goku proved difficult. We ended up just taking some joint photos; truly recreating a battle would require a significant amount of effort for photography.
