Following the popular first entries, "Son Goku" and "Vegeta," from Bandai Spirits' TAMASHII NATIONS' new "Imagination Works" line – a series dedicated to achieving the "ultimate articulated figure" – the third release will tackle the world of "One Piece" with the "IMAGINATION WORKS Monkey D. Luffy" 1/9 scale action figure. Priced at 11,000 JPY, it's slated for a July 2022 release.
The "IMAGINATION WORKS Monkey D. Luffy" action figure, designed as the flagship for the ultimate articulation series, is crafted in 1/9 scale (approximately 170mm tall). It aims to set new benchmarks across five key areas: sculpt, color, texture, articulation, and overall value. The figure meticulously recreates the iconic look of the Straw Hat Pirates captain, Monkey D. Luffy. Through an even more refined sculpt, the texture of his hair strands, his toned musculature, and his distinct facial expressions are deeply etched. Even the intricate straw weave details of his hat are finely rendered. Furthermore, realistic shadow painting is applied to his scars and pants, enhancing the sculpt's visual density and three-dimensionality.
Thanks to pull-out joints, the figure achieves a wide range of articulation, and it even includes interchangeable Armament Haki-hardened arm parts! Luffy's red shirt and large black cloak are made from authentic fabric, providing a realistic texture. The cloak also features a built-in wire, allowing for dynamic posing of the garment. Additionally, the figure comes with multiple expression parts, interchangeable eye-line parts, and alternative head sculpts for displaying him with or without his straw hat, offering a wealth of display possibilities.
