I've always been a die-hard fan of the Devil May Cry games. The sheer thrill of stylishly dispatching demons while maintaining that signature edgy cool is an unparalleled experience, and the character designs are always a perfect blend of handsome and rebellious. Among them, my absolute favorite is the stoic, edgy older brother, Vergil. Asmus Toys' Devil May Cry line has always been a flagship series for them, and this Vergil figure, in my opinion, stands out as one of the best in the entire line! After getting my hands on it, posing and photographing the figure completely devoured two days of my holiday – it's a true time sink!
The head sculpt perfectly captures Vergil's cold, sinister aura. That emotionless expression is absolutely perfect for such a cool, aloof character.
The body features a velvet-textured coat with internal wiring, allowing you to dynamically pose it into various flowing shapes. The black pants have excellent texture, complementing his slender physique for a highly accurate representation! The absolute coolest accessory, of course, is the impossibly long Yamato. Crafted from alloy, it feels substantial and heavy in hand, conveying a real sense of weight. The base body also feels different from previous releases, offering surprisingly good articulation. However, the one-piece chest armor significantly hinders articulation, which is a minor disappointment. As someone who loves to pose figures, I always hope for more dynamic articulation to capture a wider variety of shots.
The Deluxe Edition also comes with a massive array of Summoned Swords accessories. These range from six projectile Summoned Swords to a large handheld Summoned Sword, and even a rotating ring of Summoned Swords that encircle the figure. Personally, to avoid using display stands in my photos, I took a single Summoned Sword, photographed it against a pure black background, and then used Photoshop's "Screen" blending mode.
