TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, officially announced the latest addition to its popular METAL BUILD alloy figure series today: the "Gundam Astray Red Dragonics" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY," which was slated for an August 2022 release.
The "Gundam Astray Red Dragonics" is a new mobile suit specifically designed for the METAL BUILD series by mechanical designer Junichi Akutsu. In the lore, it's a unit developed by Valerius Valerius, Lowe Guele's arch-rival known as "Double V." True to form, the Red Dragonics heavily plagiarizes and improves upon Lowe Guele's Gundam Astray Red Dragon, now equipped with the more aggressive "New Caletvwlch," a more powerful "New Beam Antenna," and a "New Flight Unit."
The "Gundam Astray Red Dragonics" utilizes the alloy frame from the previously released Gundam Astray Red Frame. Its lower body, the New Caletvwlch, New Beam Antenna, and New Flight Unit are all recreated with brand-new parts, boasting a rich paint scheme and detailed body markings. However, due to the formidable weight of its backpack, an auxiliary display stand is included to help collectors pose it in various dynamic battle stances.
The figure comes packed with an array of accessories, including the Beam Rifle, Anti-Beam Shield, Gerbera Straight, Tiger Pierce, and Beam Sabers, all previously seen with the Red Frame. The head's New Beam Antenna can deploy using included effect parts. The large backpack-mounted "New Caletvwlch" weapon is composed of three parts: a torch, a dagger, and a sword. Its outer section forms a massive beam blade, which can be detached and mounted on the hilt to recreate its "J Mode" spear configuration.
