This impressive piece has a suggested retail price of 12,100 JPY and is slated for release in March 2023.
Released in 1984 and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the classic Japanese animated film "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" depicts a world where a once-thriving industrial civilization collapsed after the "Seven Days of Fire" war, leaving the surface covered in toxic substances and past civilizations in ruins. A millennium later, the world is engulfed by the "Sea of Corruption," and surviving humans are confined to small remaining territories, facing the threat of the miasma-emitting fungal forest and mutated giant insects.
Within the film's universe, the "Toriuma (トリウマ)" serves as a vital mode of transportation. These highly intelligent, giant flightless birds have developed a symbiotic relationship with humans. Resembling the extinct Gastornis, they possess atrophied wings, powerful leg muscles, and can carry people and cargo, running as fast as horses.
The "Takeya-style Jizai Okimono KT-034 Toriuma Articulated Figure" is overseen by Takayuki Takeya as the chief sculpting director. Standing approximately 17 cm tall, it meticulously recreates the Toriuma's distinctive features, including its large beak, long neck, and powerful legs. Every feather detail is exquisitely sculpted, and its claws, tribal-style equipment, and even its adorable eyes and tongue are faithfully reproduced. The intricate paintwork and shading lend a profound sense of realism to the overall design. Furthermore, it boasts an impressive 41 points of articulation, significantly enhancing its poseability and allowing collectors to recreate dynamic scenes from the film!
