Hayao Miyazaki's classic 1984 Japanese animated film, "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (風の谷のナウシカ)," depicts a post-apocalyptic world where an advanced industrial civilization collapsed after the "Seven Days of Fire" war, leaving the surface covered in toxic substances and the old civilization in ruins. A millennium later, the world is engulfed by the "Sea of Corruption," and the surviving humans live in small, isolated territories, facing the threat of the miasma-emitting fungal forests and giant mutated insects.
Within this world, the "Toriuma (トリウマ)" serve as crucial mounts and transportation. These highly intelligent, giant flightless birds have developed a symbiotic relationship with humans. Resembling extinct terror birds, they have atrophied wings but powerful legs, allowing them to carry people and cargo at horse-like speeds.
The "Takeya Shiki Jizai Okimono KT-036 Toriuma (King Vu's Royal Guard Ver.) Articulated Figure," with Takayuki Takeya serving as the sculpting director, stands approximately 18 cm tall. It faithfully recreates the Toriuma's distinctive large beak, long neck, and powerful legs. The intricate feather details covering its body are meticulously sculpted, feather by feather. It boasts an impressive 41 points of articulation, significantly enhancing its poseability to recreate dynamic scenes from the film. The head and neck are adorned with regal golden armor. The shimmering gold paint not only adds a sense of weight but also conveys the noble duty of protecting the King!
