BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, known for its high-end "MGEX" Gunpla series from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" universe, has just announced new details for its second entry: the "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam," following the first release, the Unicorn Gundam.
The ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam is the successor mobile suit piloted by protagonist Kira Yamato in "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny." Equipped with the extremely high-output "Hyper Deuterion Engine," it boasts a formidable arsenal of high-firepower beam weapons, including High-Energy Beam Rifles, Xiphias 3 Railguns, and Super Lacerta Beam Sabers. Its most distinctive feature, however, is the "Super DRAGOON" Mobile Weapon Wing, which incorporates a propulsion system developed from the "Voiture Lumiere" and mounts eight deployable "Beam Assault Cannons" for all-range attacks.
A standout characteristic of the Strike Freedom Gundam is its iconic golden internal frame. For this "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam," the "Extreme Point" theme aims to achieve "Gunpla's highest metallic expression ever" for the frame's texture. This is accomplished through a combination of techniques, including red gold plating, white gold plating, yellow gold plating, two types of metallic molded colors, and etched metal stickers, all working together to create a richly layered golden internal frame.
A prototype of the "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam"'s internal frame is scheduled to be displayed at the "GUNDAM PORT YOKOHAMA" facility in Yokohama, Japan, from February 19 to March 13, 2022. Further product details are expected to be announced this spring.
