Hong Kong-based toy brand threezero today announced its latest product, "Voltron (GoLion)," from its die-cast articulated robot series, "ROBO-DOU," with an estimated release in Q3 2022.
GoLion originated from the Toei Animation series of the same name, depicting a giant robot formed by the combination of five space lion mechs. A legendary guardian deity, it was piloted by five main characters, including Akira Kogane, to resist the invasion of the Galra Empire. The anime gained immense popularity after being localized as "Voltron" in the US, leading to original American animated series from 1998-2016, which introduced different stories, characters, and new forms of Voltron compared to the original.
The "ROBO-DOU Voltron (GoLion)" figure features a mixed-media construction of ABS, PVC, POM, and die-cast parts, faithfully recreating the five black, red, green, yellow, and blue lion mechs. Each lion boasts 20 to 34 points of articulation with die-cast joints, including articulated heads, torsos, limbs, tails, and wings. It also comes with a wealth of weaponry that can be equipped in their mouths, shoulders, and backs, allowing for dynamic and natural posing.
Furthermore, the five lion mechs feature a transformation and combination gimmick, allowing them to combine into a fully articulated Voltron (GoLion) standing approximately 27 cm tall. The combined form retains a high degree of articulation throughout its body, enabling powerful poses such as high kneeling, flying kicks, and sword swings. It also includes its signature weapon, the "Blazing Sword," to recreate its iconic special attacks!
