Bloody Scryde! Japanese toy company KOTOBUKIYA is set to release a new figure in their "ARTFX J" line, featuring the incredibly cool character Hyunckel from the classic series "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai"! This highly anticipated figure is slated for an August 2022 release.

"Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai" (ドラゴンクエスト ダイのだいぼうけん) is an adaptation of the popular Japanese RPG "Dragon Quest." Written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada, the manga began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1989, spanning 37 volumes. A new anime adaptation premiered in October 2020 and is currently still airing.
The incredibly cool Hyunckel, a fan-favorite from the anime, was initially a disciple of the hero Avan, alongside Dai and others. However, a misunderstanding led him to believe Avan killed his father, driving him to join the Dark Army in anger and become the commander of the Undead Legion. His initial equipment, the "Dark Armor Blade," was obtained from the Great Demon King Vearn. He can automatically equip it by shouting "Amdo." The Dark Armor Blade, combined with Hyunckel's signature special move, "Bloody Scryde," can pierce through any enemy. Later, after the Dark Armor Blade was destroyed and entrusted to him by Larhalt, he received and equipped the "Dark Armor Spear."
This ARTFX J series Hyunckel figure is crafted in 1/8 scale, standing approximately 23 cm tall. The sculpt is based on Hyunckel's famous special move, "Bloody Scryde," dynamically capturing his attack pose. Clad in his Dark Armor Spear, Hyunckel is depicted stepping on rocks as he unleashes his signature move, with a shouting expression that brings the scene to vivid life. The spear can be displayed in a standard version or an effect-part version, both of which are interchangeable. The hands also feature some articulation. Additionally, pre-ordering through the Kotobukiya online store will include a bonus "interchangeable head part," which is a helmet-less, neutral-expression face.
