The most beautiful Insect Hashira—Shinobu Kocho~

To give you a sense of the scale, the entire piece stands at a massive 50cm tall!

Before vs. After: This figure has evolved into a full-blown statue!

I've always wanted to create a diorama with a serene, ethereal vibe, but I could never find the time. When a commission came in to customize this Shinobu Kocho figure, it was the perfect opportunity to go all out!
First, I used a large bowl to create the basic form. This butterfly is going to be huge...

Next, I used wire and aluminum foil to build the armature for the wisteria tree.

The surface was then covered in epoxy putty and sculpted with a wood grain texture. This stuff is incredibly tough and hardens like a rock!

Painting the tree involved building up multiple layers of color to create depth.

Painting the base and the lakebed.

Pouring in the epoxy resin.

Of course, butterflies are a must.

Adding the wisteria flowers and the poison effect parts completes the composition!

Think we're done? Not yet, there's still the electrical work to tackle.
So many wires... just looking at it gives me a headache...

Finally, after touching up the details, it's complete! Enjoy the finished photos~
