American toy manufacturer SUPER7 today announced new "ULTIMATES!" action figures based on Toho's 1989 kaiju film "Godzilla vs. Biollante," featuring both Godzilla and Biollante. This article will focus on the details for Godzilla! The figure is expected to ship in Winter 2022.
In "Godzilla vs. Biollante," after Godzilla's fall into Mt. Mihara, Japan enjoyed a period of peace. However, the JSDF was still developing weapons to counter Godzilla, including the Anti-Nuclear Bacteria (ANB), and recovering and modifying the remnants of the previous superweapon, Super X, to design the new remote-controlled drone, Super X2. Meanwhile, genetic engineering authority Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, in an attempt to revive a plant that combined his deceased daughter's cells with rose cells, joined the ANB project. He mixed Godzilla's cells into the plant, which unexpectedly gave birth to the immortal plant monster, Biollante.
This ULTIMATES! Godzilla figure from the Toho series stands approximately 20 cm (8 inches) tall and measures 35.5 cm (14 inches) long. It faithfully recreates the more ferocious design of the Heisei Godzilla compared to its Showa era counterpart, with intricate detailing on its rough skin texture, dorsal fins, and tail. Accessories include a roaring alternate head, a neck piece with Biollante's vines wrapped around it, and multiple interchangeable hands, including one pierced by Biollante's tentacles. A heat ray effect would have been an even cooler addition!
