Japanese figure manufacturer Good Smile Company recently announced the upcoming release of their latest product, the "Holo ~Wolf and the Scent of Fruit~ 1/7 Scale Figure," based on the celebrated light novel series "Spice and Wolf," which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The figure was originally slated for a September 2023 release.
"Spice and Wolf" (狼と香辛料) is a light novel series penned by Isuna Hasekura, blending economics, merchant trade, and fantasy. Set in a medieval European-inspired world, it chronicles the journey of the merchant protagonist, Lawrence, and the harvest deity, Holo the Wise Wolf, as they navigate challenges, using their experience, wisdom, and even luck to transform risks into wealth. After two anime adaptations in 2008–2009, a brand-new anime project was finally announced in 2022.
The "Holo ~Wolf and the Scent of Fruit~ 1/7 Scale Figure" is meticulously crafted based on an illustration by the novel's artist, Jyuu Ayakura-sensei. It captures Holo in a joyous dance on a grassy field, her skirt brimming with a bountiful harvest of fruits. The sculpt beautifully renders Holo's sweet smile upon seeing an apple, her lightly swaying long hair and tail, the intricate knit texture of her shawl, and the delicate feel of her dress. The vibrant, glossy colors of the various fruits are brought to life through expert paintwork, making it feel as if you can sense the prairie breeze and the enticing aroma of fruit just by looking at the figure.
