Bandai's Gashapon division, renowned for its highly popular and ultra-realistic shell-less eco-capsule toys, is set to launch a new "Tokkuribachi" (Potter Wasp) series. This exciting release follows the success of previous "Ikimono Daizukan" (Creature Encyclopedia) entries like the "Hornet" and "Giant Hornet 02." The new collection will feature four distinct types, each priced at 500 JPY, and is slated for release in the fourth week of April 2022.
The "Gashapon Ikimono Daizukan Tokkuribachi" capsule toy line meticulously recreates the specimens' forms using X-ray CT scans. Each figure is composed of 33 parts, capturing intricate surface details on the body and articulated leg segments. Standing at an imposing 15 cm in length, the lineup includes the Mikado Tokkuribachi, Tsumaguro Suzumebachi (Yellow-legged Hornet), Tsumaaka Suzumebachi (Asian Hornet), and Haranaga Suzubachi (Paper Wasp). These highly realistic figures boast 18 points of articulation and internal mechanisms, allowing for full reproduction of their mandibles, antennae, and the reusable stinging mechanism in their tails. The transparent wings feature delicate details and span an impressive 20 cm when fully extended. Furthermore, the capsule itself is ingeniously designed to resemble a mud pot, allowing collectors to assemble it into a distinctive mud nest, faithfully recreating the wasps' nest-building habits.
