Japanese toy manufacturer TAKARA TOMY recently announced the latest addition to their shooting battle toy series, "Cap Revolution Bottleman," with the "BOT-31 Bottle Phoenix DX" slated for release on April 23, 2022.
The "Cap Revolution Bottleman" series is a spiritual successor to the highly popular "Super B-Daman" series, which TAKARA TOMY first launched in 1995. Evolving from the Bomberman franchise, the B-Daman toys featured a marble placed in the abdomen of a chibi-proportioned figure, fired by a spring-loaded mechanism. While the core gameplay seemed simple, the ability to add various OS (Over Shell) armor, barrels, and magazines significantly enhanced performance, playability, and competitive depth. This series gained immense popularity, amplified by exaggerated portrayals in its manga and anime adaptations. The original inspiration for this new Bottleman release is the beloved "Battle Phoenix," the signature machine of protagonist Tamago Tozaka from the classic manga "Burst Ball Barrage!! Super B-Daman."
The "Cap Revolution Bottleman BOT-31 Bottle Phoenix DX" is a commemorative product marking the 25th anniversary of the original Battle Phoenix. It reimagines the Battle Phoenix as a modern Bottleman, retaining iconic features such as its distinctive body markings, eye design, and color scheme. However, it is essentially a recolor and retool of the Bottleman protagonist's unit, "ColaMaru DX."
In terms of performance, the Bottle Phoenix DX carries over its predecessor's characteristics, utilizing its twin-wing components and arms to firmly grip and launch bottle caps, making it a powerful "Power-type" Bottleman known for its strong shots. This model incorporates the new "DrinkCross System" introduced in the "Cap Revolution Bottleman DX" series, which launched in April of this year. The "Power Type Core Bottle" serves as the machine's central component, with other parts forming its armor. By combining the core with the armor, the Bottleman body is completed, allowing for free disassembly and customization of various parts including the head, arms, legs, and trigger.
