The renowned Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo is set to release a striking new variant for its highly articulated "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメイジング・ヤマグチ) action figure line. Following the previously introduced Superman figure (No. 027), this new iteration, dubbed 027EX, features an all-new Original Black Version, scheduled for release in July 2022.
The original Kaiyodo Amazing Yamaguchi Superman figure was meticulously based on DC Comics' "New 52" series, launched in 2011. This design marked a departure from Superman's traditionally smoother aesthetic, embracing sharper lines, a metallic sheen, and a more pronounced, powerful musculature. Building on this dynamic design, Kaiyodo has now introduced an original color scheme, transforming the iconic blue base into a dominant black. The chest's "S" emblem, belt, and boots are rendered in a complementary iron gray, creating a figure with an intensely metallic and formidable presence.
This "Superman Original Black Version" stands approximately 17.5 cm tall and is supervised by the celebrated sculptor Katsuhisa Yamaguchi. Boasting an impressive 38 points of articulation, the figure can achieve a wide array of dynamic poses, including kneeling. It comes packed with a generous selection of accessories, including four additional sets of interchangeable hand parts, four different facial expressions, a vibrant red fabric cape, and a dedicated display stand.
