Japan's GOOD SMILE COMPANY is set to release a new figure in August 2022 for its affordable PVC pre-painted figure series, "POP UP PARADE." The latest addition features Jet Black, Spike Spiegel's partner from the classic anime series "Cowboy Bebop."
"Cowboy Bebop" (カウボーイビバップ) is an original anime series co-produced by Sunrise and Bandai, with Hajime Yatate credited as the original creator. It first aired in April 1998 on TV Tokyo. The story follows protagonist Spike Spiegel and his partner Jet Black, a duo of bounty hunters. Their journey leads them to encounter the money-loving femme fatale Faye Valentine, the computer prodigy Ed, and Ein, a highly intelligent corgi. This unlikely crew of four humans and one dog embarks on a life of chasing bounties, all while confronting and attempting to heal the indelible traumas of their pasts through a series of events.
In the original series, Jet is Spike's trusted partner. A former member of the police force, he lost his left arm under mysterious circumstances, leading him to leave the organization and become a bounty hunter with a cybernetic prosthetic. Despite his tough and rugged appearance, Jet is skilled at cooking and enjoys the hobby of bonsai.
This POP UP PARADE "Cowboy Bebop" Jet Black figure faithfully recreates his rugged and formidable appearance from the series. Standing approximately 18.5 cm tall, the figure captures the scars on his face, the intricate details of his cybernetic left arm, and his dynamic pose mid-reload, all rendered with impressive lifelike detail. Fans of "Cowboy Bebop" will definitely want to check this one out.
